What is a Mutual Fund
A mutual fund is a pool of money contributed by people with similar investment objectives. People who contribute money become unit holders or shareholders of the mutual fund. A mutual fund is managed by investment professionals who select the securities which are held by the fund. Mutual fund security holders share the fund’s income, expenses, and any gains and losses the fund makes on its investments in proportion to the units or shares they own.
What is an open end mutual fund
In an open end fund, the price of a unit or share is its net asset value (“NAV”).
The value of the unit holders investment in the fund can be easily realized by redeeming the units or shares held.
Who is Safeway Fund Limited
Safeway Fund Limited is an Investment Advisory Company registered under the Non Banking Finance Companies (Establishment and Regulation) Rules, 2003 (NBFC Rules).
The Company’s role is to provide investment advisory and management services to its clients which may include institutions or individual investors. The nature of services available includes:-
 Fund management advisory services
Cash management advisory services
Wealth management advisory services
Pension Management advisory services
Advisory Services including debt raising, acquisitions and mergers
The Company’s key client is a closed end mutual fund - Safeway Mutual Fund Limited.
Safeway Mutual Fund Limited, is a public limited company incorporated in Pakistan in May 1994 under the Companies Ordinance 1984. The Fund had a Net Asset Value of Rs. 20.61 at June 30, 2007, which represented a growth of almost 70% since the last financial year end. The Fund also declared a dividend of Rs. 2 per share to its shareholders for the financial year ended June 30, 2007
In addition, the Company hope to start managing the Funds of Asian Stocks Fund Limited within the next year. Asian Stocks Fund Limited is a public limited company incorporated in June 1994 under the Companies Ordinance. The Company had a Net Asset Value of Rs. 10.22 at June 30, 2007, which represented a growth of over 70% since the last financial year end.
